Community Music

The YSO is pleased to share information about other wonderful live musical performances in our community.

Brown Bag Concert Series. Sept 2016-May 2017. All concerts cost $5 at the door and are held on the first Friday of the month at noon at The Seasons. Bring your own lunch and enjoy!

*October 7: Joseph Brooks, clarinet with Anne Schilperoort, piano. Presenting a program of Brahms, romantic French pieces and some jazz works.

*November 4: Cynthia Vaughn, mezzo soprano with Anne Schilperoort, piano. Cynthia, a recent soloist with the YSO from Richland, has prepared a humorous song cycle entitled “Miss Manners on Music” by Dominick Argento.

*December 2: Whitman Trio – Diane Gray Chamberlain, soprano, Dr. Ed Dixon, cello, and Kristin Vining, piano will present a concert of Italian favorites.

*February 3: Solo and Ensemble Highlights. An assortment of outstanding high schoolers from around the Valley will perform their contest pieces with Anne Schilperoort.

*March 3: Justin Raffa, tenor with Anne Schilperoort, piano. Justin is the chorusmaster of the Yakima Symphonic Chorus. With his beautiful solistic voice he will sing a program of vocal favorites.

*April 7: Lawrence Golan, violin, and members of the Yakima Symphony Orchestra. The program will highlight a Mozart Piano Quartet with Anne Schilperoort, piano, Denika Lam Kleinmann, cello, and Barb Riley, viola. Maestro Golan will conclude with a string of violin favorites.

*May 5: Ioanna Sugarman, piano. This talented YVC Running Start 16-year-old has already won numerous contests and scholarships and has already given two solo recitals.

*June 2: The Joseph Brooks Jazz Quartet. This well-known jazz ensemble will complete our season with its usual aplomb!

Canticus is a 20 member vocal ensemble under the direction of Dr. Scott R. Peterson, accompanied by Anne Schilperoort.
