Yakima Symphony Orchestra
The Yakima Symphony Orchestra will celebrate its Golden 50th Season in 2020-2021. This will be a momentous season, one marking the development of an all-volunteer community orchestra into a renowned professional regional orchestra. The YSO now presents a full season of six classical concerts, five pops concerts (one with two performances), a signature annual fundraiser and a host of other events and opportunities. The YSO is an active community collaborator, educator and champion, inspiring new connections and relationships daily through live orchestral music on and off the stage.
The repertoire on the 50th season will reflect the YSO’s artistic capacity, agility, flexibility and priority to bring important repertoire to the stage with excellence and consistency. While specific repertoire cannot be revealed until March 21, 2020 when the season is released, we are assured of a powerful and memorable golden season. As the season unfolds, it will reflect and honor our community’s commitment to grow an orchestra of our own for the beauty it brings to our daily lives and the cultural and economic vitality it stimulates in central Washington.
We invite you to submit a piece to be considered for use on the cover of the YSO 2020-2021 season brochure and program book. Showcasing art by central Washington artists since 1981, YSO brochures and program books are treasured for their beauty and collected by patrons. The brochure and program book from the 50th season will be enduring keepsakes. The piece could be one you have already created or you could create a new work. We will host an exhibit event during the season where all of the pieces submitted for this purpose may be enjoyed.
